Overview:
The Chartered Accountant Articleship is a mandatory three-year practical training program for aspiring CA candidates. During this period, trainees gain hands-on experience in various aspects of accounting, taxation, finance, and auditing. They work under the supervision of a practicing CA (known as the Principal) and actively participate in real-world scenarios.
Responsibilities:
As a Chartered Accountant Articleship Trainee, your responsibilities will include:
- Auditing:
- Assisting in financial audits, including vouching, testing journal entries, and compiling audit files.
- Gaining exposure to statutory audits and central statutory audits of banks.
- Learning about due diligence, investigation, and forensic audits.
- Taxation:
- Participating in tax advisory matters.
- Filing tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Understanding tax representations and consultancy.
- ROC (Registrar of Companies) Compliances:
- Ensuring compliance with legal requirements related to company filings and documentation.
- Handling matters related to ROC filings and corporate governance.
- Financial Statements Preparation:
- Assisting in the preparation of financial statements.
- Learning about accounting standards and reporting guidelines.
- Client Interaction:
- Interacting with clients, understanding their needs, and providing professional services.
- Gaining practical experience in client communication and relationship management.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for CA Articleship, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:
- CPT Route:
- Clear at least one group of CA Intermediate level.
- Complete 4 weeks of ITT (Information Technology Training) and OT (Orientation Training).
- Direct Entry Route:
- Commerce graduates must score 55%, while other graduates must score 60% or more.
- Mandatory completion of ITT and OT training.
- Candidates who have cleared the Intermediate level exam conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India or Institute of Cost Accountants of India are also eligible.
Stipend:
During the articleship period, trainees receive a stipend as per the ICAI guidelines.
